“It has always been my desire that my art touch others as much as the inspiration for it has touched me! My creative process involves exploring my world and using a traditional means for expressing my feelings about it. I paint in oil and pastel what I encounter everyday. Someone told me that my paintings were like a diary. I have lived most of my life in rural Upstate New York, in the Western foothills of the Catskills. But while I was growing up, I also lived in the Midwest and in an inner city. I think this varied up-bringing has made it possible for me to move comfortably between man’s world and nature’s with my painting and this is reflected in my different subjects. The subtle nuances in nature and in human interaction has been an important ingredient that is woven through my work. To this end, I have studied with Zhang Hongnian at the Woodstock School of Art, Kim English at the Fechin Institute, Michael Tanzer at Roberson Center, Brian Keeler at the Fine Art Society of the Southern Tier, and Ben Konis at the Artist Guild in Binghamton, NY.”
