Bohn Whitaker

Bohn Buechner Whitaker has been working in clay since her after school ceramics classes in Brooklyn.  In 1977 she began to produce work professionally, selling her functional, animal themed porcelain in stores and galleries around the country.  In subsequent years, she became a middle school art teacher and continued her ceramic work on a part time basis.  She has moved through a variety of themes, from fairy tales to construction equipment, according to her interests at the time. Currently, she is working on:  Let’s Put Animals to Work. It seems that nothing is more valuable than the economy, so if we put them to work, perhaps we can end the concerns about extinction. To this end, she has been making palanquin toting tapirs, wombats bearing vases and the like.
