Laura Simone’s fascination with art and the process of creation has been a lifelong companion. She began at the age of eight with oil paints and has followed her passion for art through a multitude of mediums, working in paint, wood, and metal, as well as glass in many forms: stained, leaded, furnace, fused, flameworked, cast and cold worked. Her pursuit of art eventually led her to Saint Louis and to Third Degree Glass Factory, as an adjunct for Washington University’s flameworking & glass sampler courses under Libby Leuchtman – who taught her the basic foundations of lampworking and connected her with the glass world in ways she had never expected. Currently, she is living near Corning, NY, producing art in her multi-medium home studio, TAing, and teaching. Although she still puts brush to canvas, Laura’s focus for the last several years has definitely been on glass – creating intricate beads and miniature glass sculptures, learning traditional stained glass painting techniques, obsessing over venetian style micro-mosaics and bringing her original love of painting full circle with glass paints and enamels on beads and cabochons
